Some subway lines will be closed, and replacement buses will be provided for the affected sections. We understand that this may create challenges in your daily commute, and we are working hard to offer you a good alternative during all phases of the upgrade.

18.01 - 22.01: All lines
After 9 PM:
- Line 1 does not serve the stations Grønland, Tøyen, Ensjø and Helsfyr
- Line 2 does not serve the stations Jernbanetorget, Grønland, Tøyen, Ensjø and Helsfyr
- Line 3 does not serve the stations Jernbanetorget, Grønland, Tøyen, Ensjø and Helsfyr
- Line 4 does not serve the stations Nydalen, Ullevål stadion, Forskningsparken, Blindern, Majorstuen, Nationaltheatret, Stortinget, Jernbanetorget, Grønland, Tøyen, Ensjø and Helsfyr
- Line 5 does not serve the stations Jernbanetorget, Grønland and Tøyen
Replacement bus service operates between Jernbanetorget (platform H) and Brynseng.
The reason for this is related to work on a new entrance to Tøyen metro station.
07.02.: Line 1 and 4
All day:
- Line 1 is closed between Helsfyr and Bergkrystallen
- Line 4 is closed between Ryen and Bergkrystallen
Bus 4B replaces the metro between Ryen and Bergkrystallen.
The reason for this is work on the new metro signaling system (CBTC).
15.02 - 20.02: Line 5
From 21:00 to 02:00:
- Line 5 is closed between Sognsvann and Ullevål stadion
Bus 5B replaces the metro and runs from Sognsvann to Nydalen T.
The reason for this is work on the new metro signaling system (CBTC).
22.02 - 27.02: Line 5
From 21:00 to 02:00:
- Line 5 is closed between Sognsvann and Ullevål stadion

Why is the metro being upgraded?
The metro is being upgraded to provide you with faster travel and more frequent departures. That's why we call the project 'The great metro upgrade'. The upgrade consists of three major projects:
- Upgrade of Majorstuen station
- Connection of the Fornebu Line to the existing metro network
- Installation of new signaling and interlocking system (CBTC)
Sporveien and Fornebubanen are carrying out the work, which will provide Oslo with a more modern and efficient metro network.
Majorstuen Station
Majorstuen is one of the most important stations on the Oslo Metro. The upgrade will make it easier to travel, allow for more departures, and increase capacity.
The new station will receive
- larger platforms with more space
- multiple accesses to the station
- a new pedestrian and bicycle bridge for safer and faster crossing
With the new signaling system, the upgrades will facilitate a capacity of 36-40 trains per hour in each direction through the downtown tunnel.

The Fornebubanen is a new metro line from Fornebu to Majorstuen, via Lysaker and Skøyen.
