Terms of Agreement for VOI in the Ruter app

Here you will find terms and conditions for traveling with VOI electric scooters in the Ruter app.

Definitions

In this Agreement, the following terms shall be understood as:

No-go zones mean the areas that are defined and designated in the Ruter app where vehicles cannot be deactivated. Since you cannot reactivate a vehicle once it has been deactivated in such an area, you should avoid these areas as much as possible because failure to comply may result in additional charges.

Operational Zone means the areas defined and designated in the Ruter app where vehicles can be activated, used, temporarily parked, and deactivated.

Privacy Policy refers to the privacy policy regarding Ruter's processing of personal data, available on our websites.

See the privacy statement for the use of electric scooters in the Ruter app

Vehicles mean VOI's electric vehicles, for example electric scooters or electric bicycles.

Contact information means first name, last name, email address, mobile number, and valid payment information

The terms of VOI apply in addition to the terms on this page.

To rent a VOI vehicle in the Ruter app, you must first create a Ruter profile. Only properly registered customers can use VOI's services in the Ruter app.

It is only when the registration process, which requires you to enter contact information and also accept the terms and conditions, that a user agreement for riding electric scooters and bicycles exists between you as a customer and Ruter.

The profile you have created in the Ruter app is only valid for Ruter's own app. The profile is not valid in VOI's app and cannot be transferred. Trips made in the Ruter app can be managed by VOI's customer service (for example, terminated due to technical issues). VOI does not have access to customer information beyond required situations where Ruter provides specific access to it.

Generally

With the Ruter app, you can use VOI's services in Oslo. This means you can find an electric scooter or e-bike, start a ride, pause the ride, end the ride, and pay for the rental.

For information on the processing of personal data, see the privacy statement for the use of electric scooters in the Ruter app.

Terms of use for the app

Ruter's travel conditions apply to the agreement between you and Ruter to the extent that they are applicable. In addition, the following conditions also apply:

  • It is not permitted to alter or manipulate fixed content within the application.
  • Any attempt to recreate the original source code of software (known as reverse engineering) is strictly prohibited.
  • Ruter's tickets and/or data made available by Ruter shall not be copied, transferred, traded, and/or distributed in any way.

Payment for electric scooter and electric bike

If you are going to rent an electric scooter or electric bike in the Ruter app, you must:

  • have an approved payment method linked to the profile (debit/credit card).
  • have sufficient coverage during the purchase process, so that the amount we require for the trip is reserved.
  • pay rent.

The rental consists of a fee to unlock VOI's vehicles, and a fee to be paid for each minute, or part of a minute, that VOI's vehicles are in use. Prior to entering into the rental agreement, Ruter's App will display the amount to unlock VOI's vehicles, and the amount incurred per minute. The amounts include legally required value-added tax.

Ruter will reserve an amount directly from your debit/credit card in connection with your use of the vehicle. The rent is due for payment when the rental agreement ends. At that time, the actual price of the trip is calculated and the reserved amount is adjusted to the calculated cost. If the full reserved amount is not used during your next trip, the reserved amount will be released after the trip. You understand that the release of the reserved amount may take a few business days due to banks and/or other third parties processing the amount. At the start of the rental, the Ruter app will reserve an amount up to 200 kroner.

If the use of VOI's vehicles in accordance with the rental agreement is not possible, even though VOI's vehicles are marked as available in the Ruter app, you will not be charged for the rental.

Payment for the use of VOI's vehicles will be handled in accordance with the processing of the payment option (card payment) you have selected in the registration of your Ruter profile. By entering into a rental agreement, you confirm that he/she has the right to authorize the transfer from the specified account by direct debit.

If you do not have sufficient funds beyond the reserved amount at the end of the rental, the reserved amount will be released after the trip and the entire total amount for the journey will be marked as unpaid. The outstanding amount must be settled before you can ride an electric scooter in the Ruter app again. You also cannot delete your user profile in the Ruter app until the outstanding amount is paid.

Reservation and entering into rental agreements

Use of VOI's vehicles is only possible if it is marked as available in the Ruter app. It cannot be ruled out that an inaccurate GPS signal may in some cases be the cause of a discrepancy between the actual location of the VOI vehicle and the location shown in the app.

Ruter and VOI may call you on the mobile phone number saved on your user account if there are significant operational disruptions related to your use of a vehicle.

Termination of lease

You are responsible for parking and deactivating the vehicle once you have finished using it. The vehicle must be parked and deactivated in legal/permitted areas, meaning the vehicle cannot be parked or deactivated in any prohibited zone, on private property, in a locked area/non-public space, or in conflict with local traffic regulations and/or other legal frameworks. You are responsible for deactivating and parking a vehicle in an operational zone. You may not lock or hide the vehicle in any way unless the vehicle is activated. If you fail to deactivate or park a vehicle in an operational zone and within the maximum rental period specified above, you may be liable for a lost or stolen vehicle.

You must then follow the procedure described in the Ruter app to end the rental.

Customers must find information about parking zones, the boundaries of the business area, and the zones where parking is prohibited, in the Ruter app themselves. You must take a picture of the e-scooter you used in connection with parking at the end of your trip. The picture must clearly show that you have parked the vehicle in accordance with the description for ending the rental. The picture must clearly show the entire vehicle and must not be blurry or otherwise unclear. We reserve the right to store this picture for the purpose of ensuring that you have parked in accordance with the description upon ending the rental.

When the rental period has ended, the total rental duration and the total cost incurred will be displayed to you. You will then be able to view the receipt for the rental period, and the cost through your profile pages in the Ruter app. You can also send the receipt to yourself from the interface.

You are personally responsible for any damage resulting from negligent or grossly negligent use of the vehicles and/or violation of Norwegian law.

If the damage is due to the vehicle's construction or design, VOI will through its insurance company cover damage to the user or third parties, and itself seek recourse from the vehicle manufacturer.

Breach of contract

If the terms of use for the Ruter app are not complied with, Ruter may block the app from further use and terminate the agreement with you. In this connection, Ruter will refund any outstanding legitimate claims.

If you use the app in violation of Ruter's terms, or any other misuse of the app, you are responsible for any financial loss incurred by Ruter as a result.

In addition, VOI's terms and conditions for the use of the vehicles apply, cf. VOI's terms chapter 1. "We reserve the right at any time to deactivate or suspend your account and, if applicable, your Voi pass, or to limit your use of the services if we, in our judgment, believe that you have violated the terms in this chapter 1 or if your use significantly deviates from a normal usage pattern. In the case of repeated breaches of the provisions on responsible use of the service (see section 1.6), Voi reserves the right to notify you and block your account or to restrict your use of the services with immediate effect. You acknowledge that you are responsible for your driving, and that you can only claim compensation from us for damages caused by the vehicle, not caused by your driving."

Termination of agreement

The agreement for riding the electric scooter is withdrawn from the profile page in the app. It takes 14 days before the agreement is terminated. To be able to ride the scooter again, a new agreement must be entered into.

Ruter may terminate the agreement with 14 days' notice. In this connection, Ruter will refund any outstanding legitimate claims.
