Terms of Agreement for Bolt in the Ruter app

Here you will find the terms and conditions for traveling with Bolt electric scooters and bicycles in the Ruter app.

Definitions

In this Agreement, the following terms shall be understood as follows:

No-go zones mean the areas that are defined and designated in the Ruter app where vehicles cannot be deactivated. Since you cannot reactivate a vehicle once it has been deactivated in such an area, you should avoid such areas as much as possible because failure to comply may result in additional charges.

Operational Zone refers to the areas defined and designated in the Ruter app where vehicles can be activated, used, temporarily parked, and deactivated.

Privacy Policy refers to the privacy policy regarding Ruter's processing of personal data, available on our websites.

See the privacy policy for the use of electric scooters in the Ruter app

Vehicles mean Bolt's electric vehicles, for example, e-scooters or e-bikes.

Contact information means first name, last name, email address, mobile number, and valid payment information

The terms of Bolt apply in addition to the terms on this page.

To rent a Bolt vehicle in the Ruter app, you must first create a Ruter profile. Only properly registered customers can use Bolt's services in the Ruter app.

It is only when the registration process – which requires the customer to provide contact information (first name, last name, email address, mobile number, and valid payment information) and also accept the terms of the agreement, that a user agreement for the use of electric scooters and electric bikes exists between you as the customer and Ruter.

The profile you have created in the Ruter app is only valid for Ruter's own app. The profile is not valid in Bolt's app and cannot be transferred. Trips made in the Ruter app can be managed by Bolt's customer service (for example, terminated due to technical issues). Bolt does not have access to customer information beyond required situations where Ruter provides specific access to it.

Generally

With the Ruter app, you can use Bolt's services in Oslo. This means you can find an electric scooter or e-bike, start a ride, pause the ride, end the ride, and pay for the rental.

For information on the processing of personal data, see the privacy statement for the use of electric scooters in the Ruter app

Terms of use for the app

Ruter's terms of travel apply to the agreement between you and Ruter as far as they are applicable. The customer must have a Ruter profile to be able to use the service. In addition, the following terms apply among others:

Payment for electric scooter and electric bike

If you are going to rent an electric scooter or electric bike in the Ruter app, you must

  • have an approved payment method linked to the profile (debit/credit card)
  • have sufficient coverage during the purchase process, so that the amount we require for the trip is reserved
  • pay rent

The fee consists of an amount to be paid to unlock Bolt's vehicles, and an amount to be paid for each kilometer, or part of a kilometer, that Bolt's vehicle is in use. Prior to entering into the rental agreement, Ruter's App will display the amount to unlock Bolt's vehicle, and the amount incurred per kilometer. The amounts include legally required value-added tax.

Ruter will reserve an amount directly from your debit/credit card in connection with your use of the vehicle. The rent is due for payment when the rental agreement is concluded. At that time, the actual price of the trip is calculated and the reserved amount is adjusted to the calculated cost. If the full reserved amount is not used during your next trip, the reserved amount will be released after the trip. You understand that the release of the reserved amount may take a few business days due to banks and/or other third parties processing the amount. At the start of the rental, the Ruter app will reserve an amount up to 200 kroner.

If the use of Bolt's vehicles in accordance with the rental agreement is not possible, even though Bolt's vehicles are marked as available in the Ruter app, you will not be charged for the rental.

Payment for the use of Bolt's vehicles will be handled in accordance with the processing of the payment option (card payment) you have selected in the registration of your Ruter profile. By entering into a rental agreement, you confirm that he/she has the right to authorize the transfer of the specified account by direct debit.

If you do not have sufficient coverage beyond the reserved amount at the end of the rental, the reserved amount will be released after the trip and the entire total amount for the journey will be set as unpaid. The outstanding amount must be settled before you can ride an electric scooter in the Ruter app again. You also cannot delete your user profile in the Ruter app until the outstanding amount is paid.

Reservation and entering into rental agreements

Use of Bolt's vehicles is only possible if it is marked as available in the Ruter app. It cannot be ruled out that an inaccurate GPS signal may in some cases be the cause of a discrepancy between the actual location of the Bolt vehicle and the location shown in the app.

Routes and Bolt can call the customer on the mobile phone number stored on the user account if there are significant operational disruptions related to your use of a vehicle.

Termination of lease

Customers wishing to terminate the rental agreement must park Bolt's vehicles properly, in accordance with Bolt's terms. You must then follow the procedure described in the Ruter app to end the rental.

Customers must find information about parking zones, the boundaries of the business area, and the zones where parking is prohibited, in the Ruter app themselves. You must take a picture of the e-scooter you used in connection with parking at the end of your trip. The picture must clearly show that you have parked the vehicle in accordance with the description for ending the rental. The picture must clearly show the entire vehicle and must not be blurry or otherwise unclear. We reserve the right to store this picture for the purpose of ensuring that you have parked in accordance with the description upon ending the rental.

Read more about the image at parking in the Privacy Policy for micro-mobility rental.

When the rental period has ended, the total rental duration and the total cost incurred will be displayed to you. You will then be able to view the receipt for the rental period, and the cost through your profile pages in the Ruter app. You can also send the receipt to yourself from the interface.
