Soon you can test the night-open Metro
Published 04.11.2025
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to travel home at night by subway instead of night bus? If you travel on lines 2 and 3, you now have the chance.
About the night open metro service
- The subway runs on the night of Sunday between November 16 - December 28
- The night-time subway operates on lines 2 and 3 between approximately 01:00 AM - 04:00 AM
- There will be a total of 7 nights with the subway open all night
- The subway at night will run every 30 minutes in each direction on lines 2 and 3
- You can find the schedules in the Ruter app and on ruter.no, just as usual
- The ticket price is the same throughout the day
What's happening with the night bus?
Night buses 2N and 3N do not operate on the night before Sunday when the subway is running. The night bus on other lines operates as usual.
The night buses 2N and 3N will also run as usual on the night before Sunday. The morning bus 2N from Lørenskog operates as normal on Sunday morning.
To conduct a real test of the night-open subway, it is important that the night bus does not run at the same time. This gives us a unique opportunity to gain experience. Among other things, we will examine how customers experience the night service and what consequences the night-open subway has for punctuality and operations.
We want to hear from you
This is the first time we are running the subway at night in Oslo and Bærum. Ruter and Sporveien are collaborating on this test to gain valuable experience with night operation of the subway. Therefore, your feedback is important to us.
From 16.11, you can give us feedback on your experience with the subway at night. Information on how you can participate in the user survey will be available at ruter.no.
Safe home at night
Your safety is important to us. During the testing period, there will be additional security services, both at subway stations and mobile security guards in vehicles.
We wish you a pleasant journey with the night subway!
