Public transport services in the summer

From June 30th, we will operate with summer schedules, which means fewer departures during rush hour. However, summer also offers more frequent island ferries to the Oslofjord and buses to the beaches. Here is an overview of the public transport services available this summer.

Summer routes

From June 30 to August 10, there will be fewer departures on certain tram, bus, boat, and subway lines, as well as some canceled rush hour lines. The Ruter app and the Journey Planner are updated with the summer schedules.

The island ferries sail more frequently in the summer

The ferries in the Oslofjord sail throughout the summer until August 31. New this year is line B1x which sails between Aker Brygge and Hovedøya every 20 minutes during daytime.

You can also take a boat to Lindøya, Gressholmen, Bleikøya, Nakkholmen, and Langøyene. All the island ferries are electric and have a capacity for 350 passengers.

Beach shuttle bus

The bathing buses run on weekends. Line 89 goes from Jernbanetorget to Hvervenbukta and Ingierstrand every hour between 12-19. Line 585 runs between Kolbotn and Svartskog.

From June 9 to August 10, the bathing buses also run on weekdays.

Subway closures due to upgrades

The subway promise does not take a holiday, and diligent work is being done on major subway upgrades this summer. The subway stations at Majorstuen and Nationaltheatret, as well as the entire line 1, will be closed for parts of the summer due to major upgrades.
