Where do you buy the best ice cream, and which places are the smartest to visit if you want to get the most sun? Oslo and Akershus are teeming with popular and hidden gems that you can enjoy during the summer.
Here we have gathered a number of destinations that are particularly great at this time of year. And the best part? They are super easy to visit using public transportation!

The best ice cream stands

- Ice Crime at Olav Ryes plass. They have delicious homemade ice cream and cookies.
- Kiosken på Nesset. It is known for selling Norway's largest soft ice. PS. Remember to bring swimwear!
- Søylehuset Café på Ekeberghallen. Have ice cream both before and after ponny riding.
- ELÉA Cafe & Greek Deli in Vollen. Lovely little seaside café with an ice cream bar and Greek food.
- Gioia Gelato & Crêpes at Elisenberg is a taste of Italy in Frogner.

- Gutta på Haugen at St. Hanshaugen offer homemade soft ice and their very own toppings.

- Breivoll gård. A small oasis at the innermost part of Bunnefjorden with grass areas, water, and a beach. Stop: Nesset.
- Grefsenkollen. See the world's most beautiful summer city from the top. Stop: Trollveiskrysset.
- Høieparken. In this sun-kissed park, you can relax, and play sand volleyball or frisbee golf! Stop: Årnes station.
- Akershus festning. A historical gem that far too seldom is visited by sunlit bodies. Stop: Stortinget.
- Ekebergparken. Just a few minutes from the city, but not a single block casting a shadow. Stop: Ekebergparken.
- Museumshagen. A garden inspired by fairy tales and baroque. Bus stop: Asker Museum.
- Torshovparken. A charming, small park with a pavilion at the top. Bus stop: Torshovparken.

Visit the islands

- Hovedøya. Beautiful forests, numerous swimming spots, and a monastery.
- Bleikøya. A cabin paradise in the middle of the Oslofjord.

- Kloppa. Shelter, bathing jetty and plenty of space for pitching tents. Stop: Fløysbonn.
- Fagervann. Many beautiful camping spots and a nice trip for short-distance overnight stays. Drop-off point: Skar.
- Solbergvannet. Great overnight trip with kids with a small forest pond for swimming and fishing. Stop: Solbergliveien.
- Store Åklungen. Well suited for hammock, fishing rod, and swimwear. Stop: Sognsvann.
- Søndre Langvann. A charming little breathing space with water lilies. Stop. Slattum.
- Skapertjern. Forest along the entire lake with good opportunities for trout fishing. Bus stop: Gullaugkleiva.

- Lillestrøm training park. Large training park with, among other things, a punching bag, equipment, and suspension training. Stop: Åråsen.
- Lilleborgbanen. Simple devices, graffiti, and sand volleyball side by side. Stop: Torshov.
- Tufteparken Asperudveien. Small park with simple equipment. Bus stop: Holmlia station.
