Trips made in the Ruter app can be managed by Oslo City Bike's customer service (for example, terminated due to technical issues). Oslo City Bike does not have access to customer information beyond required situations where Ruter provides specific access to it.

Payment for city bike
If you are going to rent a city bike in the Ruter app, you must:
Have an approved payment method linked to your profile (debit/credit card).
Ensure sufficient funds during the purchase process so that you can pay the amount we require for the rental.
The rental consists of a fee that must be paid to unlock and use the Oslo City Bike vehicles for 60 minutes. After 60 minutes, a charge of 15 kroner per 15 minutes applies - up to 3 hours. Prior to entering into the rental contract, the Ruter app will display the amount to rent the vehicle for 60 minutes, and the amount incurred every 15th minute after 60 minutes. The amounts include legally required value-added tax.
Ruter will reserve an amount directly from your debit/credit card in connection with your use of the vehicle. The rent is due for payment when the rental agreement is concluded. At that time, the actual price of the trip is calculated and the reserved amount is adjusted to the calculated cost. If the full reserved amount is not used during the trip, parts of, or the entire reserved amount will be refunded after the trip is completed. The release of the reserved amount can take a few business days due to banks and/or other third parties processing the amount. At the start of the rental, the Ruter app will reserve an amount up to 200 kroner.
If the use of Oslo City Bike's vehicles in accordance with the rental agreement is not possible, even though Oslo City Bike's vehicles are marked as available in the Ruter app, you will not be charged for the rental.
Payment for the use of Oslo City Bike's vehicles will be handled in accordance with the processing of the payment option (card payment) you have selected in the registration of your Ruter profile. By entering into a rental agreement, you confirm that Ruter has the right to authorize the transfer of the specified account by direct debit.
If you do not have sufficient funds on the payment card linked to your Ruter profile at the end of the rental, the amount for the overtime (anything over 60 minutes and up to 3 hours) will be marked as unpaid. The outstanding amount must be settled before you can ride the city bike in the Ruter app again. You also cannot delete your user profile in the Ruter app until the outstanding amount is paid.
Reservation and entering into rental agreements
Use of Oslo City Bike's vehicles is only possible if it is marked as available in the Ruter app. Ruter and Oslo City Bike may call the customer on the mobile phone number saved on the user account if there are significant operational disruptions related to the customer's use of a vehicle.
Termination of lease
Customers wishing to terminate the rental agreement must park the Oslo City Bike vehicle properly, in accordance with section 5 of the Oslo City Bike terms.
- After use, you must return the city bike to one of Oslo City Bike's active racks. If the city bike is not parked correctly, and you therefore do not receive a confirmation in the app that the city bike has been delivered, you are liable for compensation if it is stolen and does not reappear within 14 days.
- If the city bike you last used is missing from the system for more than 14 days, it is considered lost, and you will receive an invoice with a claim for compensation of NOK 5,000,-
- If you are under 18, your guardians are liable for compensation.
The requirement remains even if the city bike is returned to us at a later date. This is to cover costs incurred for extra work in connection with the missing city bike and thorough checks and repairs, as well as the time the city bike has not been available to our users.
Exceeded maximum rental time (3 hours)
If you believe you have received an incorrect warning or block, you can contact Ruter's customer service (you can find contact information under 'help and contact' in the Ruter app) or UIP at post@oslobysykkel.no.
