How to ride a bike and scooter in the app

Here’s a simple guide to finding, unlocking, and starting a scooter ride in the Ruter app.

How to get started

  1. Download the Ruter app if you don't already have it.
  2. Make sure the different providers are set to appear on your map in the app. You can enable them from the map filter or the profile page.
  3. Find the nearest vehicle on the map or scan the QR code on the handlebars.
  4. Start the trip.

Rental guidelines

Electric scooter and electric bicycle

  • You must be logged in to the Ruter app to access it.
  • The age limit is 15 or 16, depending on the provider.
  • You pay for each trip by credit or debit card.
  • You can only pay for single rides. The price is the same as if you were to take a single ride using the Voi, Ryde, or Bolt app.
  • Passes or subscriptions purchased from any of these providers cannot be used in the Ruter app.
  • Remember to take a photo of the parking spot after your trip.

City bike from Oslo City Bike

  • You must be logged in to the Ruter app to access it.
  • The minimum age to rent is 18.
  • You pay for each individual trip by card.
  • The prices are the same as if you were using the Oslo City Bike app.
