Summer in Oslo and Akershus? We’ll get you there
Did you know that you can take the beach bus all the way to Ingierstrand? Or the boat to Gressholmen? Maybe a trip with the summer bus to Drøbak sounds tempting? Summer in Oslo is full of possibilities, and we’ll get you there. In weeks 27–32 we run summer routes, and here is the overview.
Changes for bus, tram, boat and metro
We are adjusting the route schedule over the summer to reflect lower weekday demand. The boats run more frequently in the summer.
- The metro runs every 15 minutes on all lines during the holiday weeks, instead of every 10 minutes as normal
- The tram runs every 15 minutes during the day in the holiday weeks
- The bus will have fewer departures on some routes. Some routes are suspended during the holiday period.
- Boat has an expanded service in summer, from May 16 to August 30, with more departures and longer operating hours than the rest of the year.
We recommend that all travelers check the journey planner at ruter.no or in the Ruter app before you travel. There you will find updated information about all departures.
Beach bus
From Saturday 8 June to Sunday 9 August, a beach bus will run on routes 89 and 585 every day.
Line 89 between Jernbanetorget and Ingierstrand is known to many as “the beach bus”. The list of swimming spots along the route is long, and includes gems such as Bekkelagsbadet, Sydstranda (Ulvøya), Nordstrand bad, Katten, Hvervenbukta, Bestemorstranda and Ingierstrand.
Line 585 runs Hauketo–Hvervenbukta–Ingierstrand–Svartskog–Sandvad–Kolbotn with an hourly frequency. Here you can find your very own spot at Strandkollen, Bekkensten or Sandbukta, or visit larger beaches such as Hvervenbukta or Ingierstrand.
Summer bus in Drøbak
From Saturday 30 May to Sunday 16 August, an extra bus line will run in Drøbak on Saturdays and Sundays.
Line 506Xruns every half hour from 12:00 to 20:00 on the route Måna – Heer – Dyrløkke – Skorkeberg – Seiersten – Grande – Drøbak Church – Drøbak Square and back.
Extra metro service during the Football World Cup
Norway’s men’s national team is back in the football World Cup for the first time in almost 30 years. On many of the evenings when Norway plays, the metro will run until 3:00 a.m. from the city centre, and we are increasing service at the busiest stations.
Buses replace the metro to Sognsvann this summer
From 6 July to 16 August, buses will replace trains on the Sognsvann Line (line 5) between Majorstua and Nydalen/Sognsvann. The closure is part of the metro upgrade project.
Note that you cannot take the metro to Ullevål Stadium during this period. Check the journey planner for alternative ways to travel.
