End of automatic refill and renewal of travel cards
From July 1, 2025, you will need to manually purchase a 30-day ticket and fill up your travel card. This applies to both private and corporate customers. Here is what you can do.
You can still use travel money, travel cards, and 30-day tickets as before. It is the automatic reload function for travel cards and the automatic renewal of the 30-day ticket that will be discontinued.
Ruter is discontinuing these automatic services because the solution is based on outdated technology that is being phased out, and therefore does not provide the quality we want for our customers. We are working on offering a better solution for subscription users of the 30-day ticket and travel cards.
What you can do from July 1
For private customers
- Download the Ruter app and purchase a 30-day ticket with subscription features. If you turn on notifications in the app, you will receive automatic alerts when the 30-day ticket is about to expire.
- Or buy a new travel card with a ticket or travel money at kiosks such as Narvesen, 7-Eleven, and Mix, as well as at the service points at metro stations in central Oslo and at our customer service center at Jernbanetorget
For business customers
- You can purchase single and period tickets directly through bedriftsportalen RuterBedrift. The tickets will be added to the travel card immediately after purchase
- It will be possible to buy empty travel cards for self-service refill of tickets.
- The travel card currently in use can still be used.
- The new ticket solution makes it easier to manage your own tickets and improves the overview of your tickets.

Why is Ruter ending this?

- The quality is not good enough for our customers.

What should I do as a private customer?
- Use the Ruter app with subscription functionality (recommended).
- Alternatively, buy travel money and monthly tickets at sales outlets if you do not want a digital ticket.
What should I do as a corporate customer?
- Purchase single and period tickets through the Billettluka in the RuterBedrift portal.
- Your travel card works as before – the tickets are added to the travel card immediately after purchase.
- You can also buy empty travel cards for self-service refill of tickets.
