School transport in Oslo

It is the Oslo municipality that provides information about school transport to all primary and secondary school students in Oslo. Students in upper secondary school in Oslo are not entitled to free transport.

This is how the travel card with a school ticket works for students in Oslo

  • Passengers must have their travel card with them on all journeys.
  • The passenger must activate the travel card on a card reader before the journey for the ticket to be valid.
  • The passenger must purchase a ticket for the journey if he/she forgets the travel card.
  • The travel card is valid throughout the school year, all days and all hours.
  • The travel card is valid on all of Ruter's modes of transport and Vy's trains in zone 1.
