We tested the all-night subway

In November and December 2025, we tested a night-time metro service on lines 2 and 3, on Sunday nights between 1:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. The test was carried out on behalf of the City of Oslo, and we collected feedback from passengers along the way. The evaluation report is now ready.

We want to hear from you

This is the first time we are running the metro at night in Oslo and Bærum. Ruter and Sporveien are working together on this trial to gain valuable experience with night-time metro operations. That’s why your feedback is important to us. Three respondents will each win a 30-day ticket.

About the night-time metro service

  • The metro runs on Saturday nights (into Sunday) between 16 November and 28 December
  • The night metro runs on lines 2 and 3 between approximately 1:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m.
  • There will be a total of 7 nights with the subway running all night
  • At night, the metro will run every 30 minutes in each direction on lines 2 and 3.
  • You can find the timetables in the Ruter app and on ruter.no, just like usual.
  • The ticket price is the same as for the rest of the day.

What’s happening with the night bus?

Night buses 2N and 3N do not run on Saturday night/Sunday morning when the metro is operating. The night bus on other lines runs as normal.

The night buses 2N and 3N will also run as usual on Saturday night/Sunday morning. The morning bus 2N from Lørenskog will operate as normal on Sunday morning.

To carry out a real test of a night-open Metro, it is important that the night bus does not run at the same time. This gives us a unique opportunity to gain experience. Among other things, we will look into how customers experience the night service and what consequences a night-open Metro has for punctuality and operations.

Safe home at night

Your safety is important to us. During the test period, there will be additional security guards, both at metro stations and mobile guards in cars.

We wish you a pleasant trip on the night metro!
