Travel without a smartphone

Ruter is now launching a trial scheme with a 90-day period ticket on travel cards for children and young people between the ages of 6 and 17.

Benefits of the 90-day period ticket

  • Fewer trips to retail outlets
  • Avoid having to remember to renew the ticket every month
  • Simpler planning in busy families

The new ticket product is a response to families who want simpler travel solutions for children who travel frequently without a smartphone.

– This is about making everyday travel easier. The travel card is still important for many children. We have received several inquiries from parents about making it easier for children to travel with public transport without a smartphone. That's why we are now testing this product, says Robert Fjelltun, head of commercial in Ruter.

No need to renew the ticket as often

The new 90-day ticket can only be purchased on a travel card in a store, kiosk or at our service points. The length of the period ticket will reduce the need to visit physical sales outlets monthly, and can be a simpler alternative than buying multiple 30-day tickets at a time.

For children, the price of the 90-day ticket (which is equivalent to three times the 30-day ticket) is now 981 NOK for one zone, 1308 NOK for two zones, and 1635 NOK for traveling in all zones.

The 90-day ticket is a pilot project that will run until the summer of 2026, to provide insights into how Ruter can offer a good solution.
