Public transport makes room for Sentrumsløpet race on Saturday
Last updated: 21.04.2026, 12:05
On Saturday, April 25, a record number of participants is expected, with up to 20,000 runners lining up at the start of this year’s Sentrumsløpet in the streets of Oslo.
It also means that several bus and tram routes will run differently between 2:00 p.m. and a little after 7:00 p.m.
The metro is your best option today
Are you heading to or through the city centre on Saturday afternoon? Then the metro is our recommendation. It is not affected by the race or the road closures, and it has plenty of capacity that day.
Below is an overview of how the tram and bus services are affected this Saturday. Remember that the changes end at different times for different routes.
How the tram is affected
Line 12
Service is suspended between Majorstuen and Jernbanetorget. If you are traveling from Jernbanetorget towards Kjelsås, use platform F.
Line 13
The line is suspended between Dronningens gate and Skøyen. The route is split in two so that the tram runs between Ljabru–Jernbanetorget and between Skøyen–Lilleaker. If you are at Jernbanetorget and heading towards Ljabru, use platform B.
Line 15
Service is suspended between Dronningens gate and Majorstuen.
Other lines
All other lines are running as normal.
How buses are affected
Line 20
The service is suspended between Skøyen and Majorstuen. This means that the bus will not stop at the stops Skøyen, Thune, Olav Kyrres plass, Odins gate, Frogner plass, Vigelandsparken and Frogner stadion.
Line 21
The route is suspended between Tjuvholmen and Bislett. This means that the bus will not stop at the stops Tjuvholmen, Observatoriegata, Lapsetorvet, Riddervolds plass and Rosenborg.
Line 30
In the direction of Huk, the bus does not stop between Tollboden and Karenslyst allé. In the direction of Nydalen, the bus does not stop between Frognerkilen and Bjørvika. The bus will therefore not stop at the stops Karenslyst allé (towards the city centre), Olav Kyrres plass, Frogner kirke, Solli, Nationaltheatret, Wessels plass, Kvadraturen and Jernbanetorget (Tollboden towards Nydalen). Note that there will be a temporary stop in Dronning Blancas vei.
Line 31
In the direction of Fornebu, the bus does not stop between Jernbanetorget and Skøyen. This means that the stops Skøyen (towards the city centre), Thune, Olav Kyrres plass, Frogner kirke, Solli, Nationaltheatret, Wessels plass and Kvadraturen are not served. In the direction of Grorud/Tonsenhagen, the bus stops at Sjølyst instead of Skøyen.
Line 37
There will be a detour between St. Hanshaugen and Jernbanetorget via Waldemar Thranes gate, Maridalsveien and Storgata. This means that the bus will not stop at the stops Stensberggata, Nordahl Bruns gate, Holbergs plass, Nationaltheatret, Wessels plass, Kvadraturen, Historisk museum, Jernbanetorget (regular stops).
Line 70
The route is suspended between Nationaltheatret and Jernbanetorget. This means that the bus does not stop at the stops Nationaltheatret, Wessels plass and Kvadraturen.
Line 81
The bus runs directly between Jernbanetorget and Filipstadveien via the Opera Tunnel. It therefore does not stop at the stops Kvadraturen, Wessels plass, Nationaltheatret or Vika Atrium.
Not updated in the travel planner
Line 150 and 160
The bus is changing stops at Nationaltheatret. It departs from platform E at Nationaltheatret and drops off passengers at platform H. The bus does not stop at Holbergs plass or at platforms F/G at Nationaltheatret.
Line 250
The bus is changing stops at Nationaltheatret. It departs from platform N in Haakon VII’s gate, and drops off passengers at platform F in Munkedamsveien. The bus does not stop at the Huitfelts gate stop.
Ruter’s travel advice for race day 🏃
- Take the metro.Buses and trams will have some temporary changes that day. The metro, however, is not affected by the race and is by far the easiest option to and from the city centre that afternoon.
- Check the journey planner before you leave. The changes end at different times, and the planner gives you the most up-to-date information for your route.
- Allow some extra time.Even if you take the metro, it can be crowded around the city center that day. So plan for a bit of extra time, especially if you’re going to run.
- Are you going to cheer for someone?Jernbanetorget and Nationaltheatret stations are good starting points for getting to the city centre by metro.
- Would you rather avoid the race festivities? Then it’s a good idea to stay a bit away from the city center between about 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
- Enjoy yourself!
