Public transport arrangements for His Majesty the King’s funeral
We are adjusting public transport services in central Oslo in connection with the funeral of His Majesty King Harald V.
In connection with the funeral on September 9, 2026, large parts of central Oslo will be closed off. We are therefore making a number of adjustments in central Oslo.
“This is a very sad time for the Norwegian people. Public transport services are therefore making adjustments for the funeral and allowing people space to grieve,” says Møyfrid Aandstad, Director of Operations at Ruter.
This will apply from the start of the operating day and for as long as necessary. Passengers are advised to allow plenty of time, be considerate of one another, and stay up to date via the Ruter app.
Naturally, many people want to go into the city to pay their respects. If you're heading downtown that day, it's best to take the metro.
Here’s what the offer will look like:
Metro:
The metro will run as normal, with two exceptions:
- Stortinget metro station is completely closed and will not be served. Passengers are advised to use the other city-centre stations.
- At Nationaltheatret station, only eastbound lines are operating, as the entrance from Johanne Dybwads plass is closed. Passengers must use the entrance on Ruseløkkveien.
Tram:
The tram is not serving the city center. This results in the following cancellations:
- Lines 12 and 15 will not operate between Solli and Jernbanetorget.
- Linje 13 blir innstilt mellom Solli og Ljabru. Den erstattes av linje 19 mellom Jernbanetorget og Ljabru.
- Linje 17, 18 og 19 blir innstilt mellom Holbergs plass og Jernbanetorget.
Buss:
Bussene vil tilpasse seg den trafikkfrie sonen, og vi vil komme tilbake til hvordan busstilbudet blir i sentrum når det nærmer seg.
