10 travel tips during the major metro upgrade

This year, there are major upgrades happening on the Oslo metro that will affect you as a traveler. There will be bus replacements on several sections of the lines. Here are Ruter’s travel tips. Published 19 dager siden
  1. Plan your trip in advance
    Check travel options in the journey planner at ruter.no or in the Ruter app.
  2. Consider other stops or lines
    Check if there are other stops or bus and tram lines that take you in the same direction.
  3. Walk or cycle if you can – the whole way or parts of it
    It can be faster and more flexible, especially when there is heavy traffic.
  4. Allow extra time
    There may be queues and some waiting time when many people are traveling at the same time.
  5. Ask us for help
    Customer service representatives from Ruter are present at the stops that are most affected. We are here to help and answer questions.
  6. Look for information at the stops
    There are posters and screens at the stops that can help you. Marked arrows show the way to the buses that replace lines 2 and 3 at Borgen station.
  7. Do you cycle?
    Check out the updated cycling maps from Oslo municipality. Traveling from the west? Bærum municipality offers both bike repair shops at various locations along the metro line and electric bike rentals.
  8. Avoid rush hour on lines 2 and 3
    If you travel with lines 2 and 3 between Østerås/Kolsås and Majorstuen, consider if you can avoid traveling during rush hour if possible.
  9. Use Ruter's interactive map to keep track
    The map shows how and when the subway lines are affected by the upgrade.
  10. Stay updated
