If you want to buy or travel with a discount ticket you must be able to show identification when the conductor asks for it. The rules below apply to Ruter's lines. Other companies may have other terms. Remember the family discount on weekends!

Dog
Children’s price - regardless of size. Guide dogs for the blind travel for free.
Bicycle
Children’s price. The personnel decides if there is enough room.
Skis, sleighs, prams and strollers
Free. The personnel decides if there is enough room.
Wheelchair users
Travel free of charge.
Family discount
Saturdays, Sundays and on public holidays (not 17 May) you may bring as much as 4 children (or dogs) free of charge using any kind of adult ticket.
Children's price
Half price, greater discount for 30-days tickets. Children's price tickets and travel passes must be activated/validated at the latest the day before you reach the age of 16. Children under the age of 4 travel for free.
Youth discount
Youth under the age of 19 pay children’s price for 7- og 30- days tickets. The ticket must be activated at the latest the day before you turn 20.
Concessionary discount
Half price, greater discount for 30-days tickets. Concessionary discount is given to persons above the age of 67, persons with Norwegian disability insurance as well as blind persons and spouses/cohabitants travelling with the person entitled to a concessionary ticket.
Student discount
A Student ticket entitles persons under 30 years of age studying full-time for a minimum three-month period at an educational establishment in Oslo and Akershus to a 40% discount on a 30-day ticket. As for the standard 30-day ticket, you pay for a maximum of three zones. Under certain conditions, trainees may also be entitled to a student discount.
As a student, you must be able to produce evidence of your student registration during ticket inspections, and confirmation that you have paid your semester fees. The spring term extends up to the end of August, and the autumn term up to the end of January. As a work experience trainee, you must be able to produce evidence of your registration at the trainee organisation you attend, or your trainee contract.
Group discount
Kindergartens and elementary schools
The Rufus pass for Oslo or Oslo and Akershus offers discounts to kindergartens and school classes.
Other groups
Group tickets (congress tickets) offer discounts to larger groups of adults travelling in Oslo. You may contact Ruter's switchboard on the phone number: 40 00 67 00.
Discount for military personnel
Norwegian military pay children’s price for single tickets during their period of service on showing identification. Military discounts are only given for single tickets.
Companions
Companions with public companion identification get concessionary discounts. Companions for the deaf-blind have the right to free travel.
Pupils in the first grade with a school ticket in Akershus may bring a companion free of charge to school at the beginning of the school year and until 1 October.
