Tickets and fares in Oslo and Akershus

For all travels that starts and ends inside Oslo and Akershus, Ruter’s ticket fares apply.

For airport transport and lines outside Oslo and Akershus other ticket fares apply.

Ruter’s tickets and fares from 1 February 2013

For single trips you pay for a maximum of 5 zones, and with the period ticket you pay for a maximum of 3 zones - regardless of how far you travel. Click on the ticket type for details.

Coupon cards and tickets bought before the fare changes

Coupon cards and tickets bought at the old fare before the fare changes 1 February 2013 must be used no later than 30 April 2013 to be valid. Unused coupon cards and tickets can be refunded for a period of three years from 1 May 2013. Read more about coupon cards and tickets bought before the fare changes.

It is more expensive to buy single tickets on board

When buying a single ticket on a bus, tram or boat from zone 1, there is an on board surcharge. This creates a price difference of NOK 20 (NOK 10 for children and concessionary).

On board the train the on board surcharge is NOK 40 from all stations where you can buy a ticket in advance from a ticket machine or booking office. Travelers who are entitled to a concessionary (senior) ticket, or as a result of a disability cannot use the ticket machines, will not be levied on board surcharge.

Age limits and discounts

Children’s tickets are valid from 4 up to and including 15 years of age. For 7- and 30-day tickets youth price is valid up to and including 19 years of age. Concessionary tickets may be bought by travellers from 67 years of age or with a valid Norwegian social security ID. Read more about discounts, age limits prices for bicycles and dogs etc.

Group discounts

Family discount: Saturdays, Sundays and on public holidays (not 17 May) you may bring as much as 4 children (or dogs) free of charge using any kind of adult ticket.

Kindergartens and elementary schools: The Rufus ticket is valid for an unlimited amount of trips between 09:00 and 15:00 on the stamp date for as much as 15 persons. Read more about the Rufus ticket.

 

Tourist ticket

For tourists in Oslo there is the Oslo Pass which gives free public transport inside Greater Oslo and free admission to several museums. You can buy the Oslo Pass for 24, 48 or 72 hours. Read more about the Oslo pass.

 

Points of sale and service

You can buy tickets for public transport in Oslo and Akershus in a large number of kiosks and shops as well as from ticket machines and at bus terminals, points of service on the metro and at Ruter's customer service centre.
