Travel guarantees and refund schemes

Taxi refund

Occasionally unforeseen incidents occur which delay public transport or simply make it come to a halt. Several of the public transport companies have introduced their own guarantees and refund schemes which makes it easier to choose public transport - even if deviations occur. Which terms apply depends upon the company you are travelling with.

 

 

With Ruter in Oslo and Akershus

Ruter's travel guarantee applies to all transport with Ruter's lines in Oslo and Akershus, whether you are travelling by metro or boat. The travel guarantee has 10 points concerning punctuality, information before and during travel as well as well-being on means of transport and at stops - everything you expect as a user of public transport.

Taxi refunds

If a failure in the transport service causes you to be more than 20 minutes late, Ruter covers your taxi expenses by up to NOK 500 if you provide data on time, place and line. If you know that you'll get good help from another travel service you may use that in addition to a taxi.

The main rule is that the right to a taxi refund applies in all cases of irregularity which have not been announced in advance. If you know or ought to know about the problem in advance and know that the fault does not lie with Ruter, no refund is offered.

NSB's local and regional trains

Travellers with NSB who experience delays of more than 30 minutes get a 50 percent refund on most trains. The exception is some regional train stretches where you get a refund for delays longer than 60 minutes. The scheme applies both to single tickets and period tickets.

You may also get expenses refunded for alternative transport.

Airport train, airport coach and Timekspressen

Flyotoget - the airport express train

If a deviation occurs with delays, the Flytoget will normally offer alternative transport or refund all documented costs for the quickest possible transport to Oslo Airport Gardermoen.

If the delay lasts for more than 30 minutes in relation to Flytoget's announced arrival, and you don't reach the plane, Flytoget will cover the expenses for a new airplane ticket according to certain terms and conditions.

Flybussekspressen - airport coach

Flybussekspressen guarantees both that you get a seat and that you arrive in time. If there is no offer of alternative transport the Flybussekspressen will refund your documented expenses for use of taxi, your own car, or other alternative transport according to certain terms and conditions.

Timekspressen

Timeekspressen guarantees both that you get a seat and that you arrive in time. If there is no offer of alternative transport, the Timeekspressen refunds your documented expenses for use of taxi, your own car or other alternative transport according to certain terms and conditions.
